The beginning
It all began in the early 80s when a troupe of performers in colorful costumes had
taken over the streets of Baie-Saint-Paul - a small village near the Quebec City.
The performers were dancing, juggling, playing music, striding on stilts and breathing fire which brought the awe-struck expressions to the locals faces.
The street theatre group was called Les Échassiers de Baie-Saint-Paul. In 1984 the troupe performed as a part of the celebrations of the 450th anniversary of Jacques Cartier's discovery of Canada.
The show - a stunning combination of circus art and street performance - was very well received by the audience.
Soon Guy Laliberté called his creation "Cirque du Soleil" because as he said himself "The sun symbolizes youth, energy, and strength.”
And now after nearly four decades, the mission of Cirque du Soleil is still the same - "We invoke the imagination, provoke the senses and evoke the emotions of people around the world."

Are you going to write about just one theatre / circus group for the whole term? Will you find enough interesting material?
OdpowiedzUsuńPlease rethink the background- it's really hard to read some parts of the text against the picture behind it.
