Reflection #1

Last week I was at a shopping center looking for a new pair of shoes. I was waiting in a line when I saw a parent trying to keep their child occupied while the other was looking at the clothes. The father was pushing a phone in a child's hands telling her to watch another film in which she clearly wasn't interested.
That made me think about how often I hear adults complaining about what addictive technology does to children and how they spent their time while they were younger; playing outside. But when it comes to a situation like that, the fault lies mostly on the parents' side.  Instead of giving their attention that the child sought, they'd rather play a video on a youtube so that they won't be interrupted.

  1. This is a cruel but accurate observation. Let me just say: when you are a parent of a small child, you begin to understand how difficult your job is. So much as I agree with you, I try to sympathise with these poor people.
