Auditions

Did you know that Cirque du Soleil has the biggest casting department in the world?
It might be surprising but when you go to auditions the prize at the end is not being cast in the show - it is making it into circus databank of talent.  Every year in the queues there are standing singers, musicians, athletes, gymnastics, martial arts masters and many more. While casting, besides the high degree of practical skills, the most important aspects are how someone carries themselves, how they react to stress or how they handle being under pressure. It is also significant to be medically fit, after all the artists have to be able to endure 10 shows a week. The candidates come from all over the world and there are hundreds of them, but after a day of auditions, only some of them will make it to the next round. The next day, they must show their other skills (for example, the athletes have to show their dancing and acting skills) and after two days of auditions, only about 10 will leave with a paper stating that they made it into the databank and a chance to perform on a stage one day.
